The house itself is lovely, with a good roof and new render on the outside. The original barn doors have been replaced with French windows opening on to the terrace to the front. There is approximately 175m2 of habitable space in total, 100m2 being on the ground floor and 75m2 on the first floor. The most part of the ground floor is taken up with a huge open-plan living space - there is a rustic style render on the walls, with lots of exposed stone and superb oak beams. A wood burning stove provides a cosy glow, and this is supplemented with electric heating for the rest of the house. The main area is open to the roof, showing off the fantastic beam structures, with a mezzanine landing giving access to the bedroom. I was really taken with the kitchen, which has all been built in stone with lime-washed blue cupboard doors. To the rear of this there is a laundry room and a new shower room, which requires a little finishing off but this will be done prior to completion on a sale.
The stairs leading to the first floor are stone and oak, and could do with the addition of a banister if you suffer from vertigo. The landing is waiting for the new wooden floor to go down, which should be done by the end of February. This leads to three bedrooms - all with exposed beams and newly painted in light colours. They aren't huge, but they are very serviceable and hey, it's nice to be cosy in the bedroom! The bathroom is newly done, with a bath, double sink and loo - there are lots of beams and exposed wood, but the floor's a bit creaky! The feeling of the whole house is light and bright and airy - I really liked it and really there is nothing to do, as the bits of finishing off are to be undertaken by the vendors. If you are looking for a private house, with lots of character, that you can move straight into, then this could be for you.
